CMSEF STAFF SUPPORT: November Initiatives

 

"FALL INTO A GOOD BOOK" BOOK FAIR: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

WHEN: Monday thru Friday, November 9th to the 13th
 
WHERE: CMS Library - Students will come during their ELA classes
 
 
DETAILS: Currently the library is serving at a 9.3 to 1 book ratio. The ratio for a healthy library is 12:1. This means Ms. Keenan, the new Media Specialist, must add 3,500 curated books for our students. This does not include the replacement of our well-loved books in our collection (think Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and even Diary of a Wimpy Kid). In the first full month of school, CMS library has already had 4,000 checkouts! Last year, Chamblee Middle School was 16th in the top 20 schools last year for checkouts in DCSD, and one of only two middle schools that made that list. The students checked out 14,965 times last year. This year's goal is 20,000 and we can do this with YOUR help! All proceeds from the book fair will go to support the library in purchasing library bound books that are desperately needed!
 

SHOP & SUPPORT: Families and community members can shop online (https://littleshopofstories.com/) and all purchases made through the website will count toward CMS's book fair sales. Use the code CHAMBLEE at checkout to ensure the sale credits to CMS. This is a great way to purchase holiday gifts for families and friends and have it benefit the school too!
